Porsche 911 Turbo uncorked by modifying the cylinder head intake ports and tweaking new injectors fuel system with fuel pressure. Turbo S further squeezed to power with a larger turbocharger impeller, plus the engine redline increases 200 rpm to 7200 rpm. Zero-to-60 mph times dropped 1/10th of a second to a second Turbo variant, to 3.2 seconds for the Turbo and 2.8 seconds faster for the Turbo S.
Even with the increased power, Porsche expects fuel economy for the 911 Turbo to increase the revised engine and transmission management. EPA fuel economy ratings will be available later in the day, though 911 already miserly fuel competition between ultra-high-performance with 20 mpg combined (17/24 mpg city/highway). Z06 Corvette are rated at 13/11/16 mpg city/highway/combined, Nissan GT-R 16/22/19 mpg and AMG GT-S is 16/22/18 mpg.
Porsche says tinkering with the engine programming with a new dynamic boost function will improve throttle response when increasing the pressure by keeping the throttle briefly released, giving a quick response once the throttle is applied again.
